Su richiesta dello stesso RMS è stato diffuso il suo personale commento sull’incontro tra la “delegazione” (termine da prendere con le molle) del Software Libero che ha incontrato il governatore Vendola. Citando testualmente;

and worked with for years: Marco Ciurcina, Renzo Davoli,
Juan Carlos Gentile, and Dora Scilipoti.The discussion confirmed that Vendola had heard the
ideas of open source, but not the ideas of software libero.
He thought that free software was just a kind of computing technology.
I compared Microsoft with Monsanto to show how its proposed
“center of excellence” would lead Puglia into harmful dependence.I can’t speak for Vendola, but he said he had learned something
important about the political aspects of computing.
In sostanza, RMS ha valutato con ottimismo gli esiti dell’incontro del 20 Dicembre con il governatore pugliese, arrivando a dichiarare che lo stesso abbia imparato qualcosa sugli aspetti politici del software. Inoltre ha paragonato Microsoft a “Monsanto“, paragone che certamente farà discutere.
Ciò nonostante, qualche dubbio rimane sulla riuscita dell’incontro, e sono in molti ad aspettare riscontri concreti; intanto pare che diverse sezioni di “Sinistra Ecologia e Libertà” abbiano mostrato interesse ad approfondire l’argomento, entrando in contatto con associazioni legate al Software Libero.
Non resta quindi di aspettare e vedere se l’ottimismo del fondatore presidente FSF sia ben riposto, o sia l’ennesimo caso di “promesse politiche”.
